Figurative Artist Research: Erik Zener

I really like the piece on the left as it uses a figure in art to display how their movement can affect the environment around them, and how the bubbles closely surround the character you can tell the person has dived in. The darkness of the rest of the environment surrounding really focuses attention on the figure itself.

Although the piece on the right doesn’t directly show figurative art I chose it because you can see that a person has been in the piece and where they have disturbed the bed sheets with movement. I like this piece because not only is it a fine example of creases and folds in fabric, but it has a greater sense of figurative presence as if the character that was in this piece is  leaving a memory of themselves in the carefully placed folds and creases that the artist has purposefully chose. I do believe that a photographic reference has probably been used so the artistic can realistically portray what actually looks like a difficult piece to do because of its lack of colour and heavy reliant on shades of white.
